This Privacy Policy explains how the Alt Text Generator plugin ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares personal information when you use the Alt Text Generator Plugin ("the Plugin"). By using the Plugin, you agree to the collection and use of information as outlined in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Plugin.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information to provide and improve the Plugin, including enabling AI-generated alt text and managing user accounts and credits.

a. Information You Provide

Google OAuth: When you sign in to the Plugin using Google OAuth, we collect and store your basic Google profile information, such as your name, email address, and profile picture. This information is used for authentication and to manage your account within the Plugin.

b. Information from Third Parties

Supabase: We use Supabase to securely store your profile data, such as user ID, credits available, and transaction history. Supabase follows strict security protocols to protect your data.
OpenAI API: The Plugin sends image data (in the form of file urls) to OpenAI’s API to generate alt text. OpenAI does not retain any user-specific information, and no personally identifiable information is transmitted as part of this request.
Lemon Squeezy: When you purchase credits, you payment information is processed by Lemon Squeezy. Lemon Squeezy then shares transaction information with the us so the Plugin can keep track of your credits. The Plugin does not directly handle your payment information.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information to:

Authenticate and manage your access to the Plugin
Generate AI-based alt text for images through the OpenAI API
Track and update your credits for generating alt text
Improve the Plugin’s functionality, user experience, and security

3. Sharing of Information

We will not share your personal information with third parties, except in the following cases:

Service Providers: We may share information with third-party providers like Supabase, OpenAI and Lemon Squeezy solely for the purposes outlined in this policy.
Legal Compliance: We may disclose information if required by law or in response to valid legal processes (such as subpoenas, court orders, or government requests).
Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your information may be transferred to the acquiring entity.

4. Data Security

We take the security of your personal data seriously and use commercially reasonable safeguards to protect it. Supabase and Google OAuth follow industry-standard encryption and access control protocols to protect your data. However, please note that no system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of your information.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal information only as long as necessary to provide the Plugin's services and for legitimate business purposes, including record-keeping and compliance with legal obligations. If you wish to delete your data, please contact us.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have certain rights regarding your personal data, including the right to access, correct, or delete the information we hold about you. To exercise these rights, please contact us.

7. Children’s Privacy

The Plugin is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without verification of parental consent, we will delete that information.
